Artist Statement

In my work, I explore the intersection of memory and imagination through mixed media, predominantly using magazine clippings and acrylic paint. Each piece is a reflection of places I have visited, yet they are more than just landscapes—they are dreamlike reconstructions of my experiences. By layering these elements, I aim to evoke the fragmented and evolving nature of memory.

My creative process involves piecing together fragments of imagery and color to form a cohesive yet dynamic whole. This approach mirrors how our minds recall and reinterpret places over time, often blending reality with imagination. The resulting compositions are rich in detail and texture, inviting the viewer to delve into a world where the familiar becomes fantastical.

As you engage with my work, I hope you find that each viewing offers something new—a hidden detail, a shift in perspective, or a fresh narrative. These discoveries are central to my art, reflecting how our perceptions of places, and the memories they evoke, continually evolve. My goal is for each piece to be a journey, one that reveals its secrets gradually, encouraging an ongoing dialogue between the artwork and the viewer.

After graduating college in 2011, I found myself in need of a creative outlet. I had always been interested in art but never pursued it seriously or took any classes. I remember heading down to the local art store and buying a bunch of supplies, trying out different mediums such as spray paint, acrylic paint, oil paint, digital, and 3D prints. While I enjoyed experimenting with these different forms, I had yet to find a clear creative outlet that stuck with me.

It wasn’t until I started receiving Condé Nast Traveler magazines that I found my calling. After collecting a pile of magazines, I didn’t want to throw them out as it seemed wasteful. I remembered a painting I had done from a picture taken on my honeymoon to Positano, Italy (2018) and thought of using magazine pieces to recreate it. I was pleasantly surprised by the result and knew I had found the artistic medium I had been looking for.
